Business Analyst Resume Evaluation
Get noticed for the right jobs…
The goal of a resume is to market your professional qualifications to potential employers. So often, I’ve worked with highly qualified candidates that did not fully appreciate their qualifications. Some of them have spent months applying for jobs haphazardly without one interview before working with me to put the right focus around their job search and resume.
The resume evaluation services will help you craft a resume that fully reflects your relevant skills, qualifications, accomplishments, and career experiences.
This is not a resume writing service. We work with you to elicit the value you bring to the table and help you develop your skills in understanding and communicating your value to potential employers. The end result is resume that markets the value you provide. Because this resume is your own, you also benefit from a deep understanding of that value and are better prepared to focus your jobs search and prepare for interviews.
Testimonials
Brandon Groom, an IT leader within a start-up on his way to becoming a business analyst, finalized his resume evaluation on May 10, 2010, and contacted me to let me know he’d found the ideal position on June 24. Here’s what he had to say about the service:
Your advice, encouragement, and insight helped me build confidence and reinvent myself during this quasi-career-change. Enlisting your services and participating in the local IIBA CBAP study group were the 2 best decisions I made throughout this transition period.
Julia Meyers, the very first resume evaluation client, shared the following feedback:
I was able to get to your review and WOW was I blown away. Given the comprehensive and perceptive review I received, I will be the first to recommend you to other BA’s looking for resume help!
Michelle Swoboda, a senior business analyst who has now found a contract position and writes for Bridging the Gap recently wrote:
The new resume has made all the difference. I targeted the jobs I really wanted rather than applying for anything and everything. I started to value myself and what I had to offer and feel that I did not have to settle. All your skills are transferable and you can translate your resume into the career that you are passionate about – just find out what that is! It is well worth the time and energy. Status: Not Taking New Clients
Due to the length of time required to complete this service and my November-December 2011 maternity leave, I am not currently taking new Resume Evaluation Clients. I may reopen the service in 2012. In the meantime, please consider Tackling the BA Job Market. This is a virtual, on-demand workshop that walks you through the process I use in my resume evaluations so you can achieve similar results independently.
Resume Evaluation Process
Crafting a top-notch resume is the result of a full understanding of your target position and immediate career goals. Our resume evaluation process is designed to help you clarify your goals and unearth the value you provide to potential employers.
Step 1: Clarify your Target Position
Your resume’s purpose is to market you as a professional to find jobs for which you are qualified—or your target position. In this step, we’ll provide resources to help you complete the following:
- Define your target position;
- Select 3-5 sample jobs to which you are planning to apply (or have applied to);
- Assess your key career experiences as they related to your target position.
Step 2: Resume Evaluation
A senior level business analyst with experience interviewing and hiring other BAs will personally evaluate your resume and provide feedback as to how the resume reflects the value you bring to the table.
The evaluation will include the following aspects:
- Clarity of the match between the value the resume depicts and the target position.
- Applicability of resume to sample jobs.
- Objective assessment of potential value the candidate brings to a hiring manager, as marketed by the resume.
- Identify resume strengths that can be leveraged to expand sections of the resume.
- Identify resume weaknesses and suggest action plans to improve those weaknesses.
A detailed assessment of your resume will be provided in writing and, depending on the package you choose, reviewed in a one-on-one phone call. If you choose a phone call, we’ll collaborate together to identify opportunities for you to market additional value to potential employers.
Packages
We provide three different options so you can find one that provides you the best possible value for the investment you are prepared to make.
Option #1: Kick-Starter Package
The Kick-Starter Package is just that. It gets you started in the right direction! You’ll receive a resource package for defining your target position and documenting key career experiences and receive a personalized evaluation of your resume, an assessment of how it showcases your qualifications for your target position, and a list of action steps you can take to improve your resume.
Your investment: $125
Option #2: Standard Package
The Standard Package provides full support for crafting a resume and preparing for your job search. This package includes everything in option 1, plus a one-hour phone consultation to discuss your career experiences in detail. In this call, we will uncover marketable qualifications from your career history and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about my initial assessment.
You’ll have all the time you need to improve your resume and then you’ll receive a second, more comprehensive evaluation including a detailed report with detailed action steps for improving your resume and sample sections rewritten following our guidelines. Because we’ve discussed your career history in detail, this second evaluation will ensure you are bringing your qualifications to light in the best possible way.
Your investment: $300
Option #3: Premium Package
The Premium Package includes everything in the Standard package plus a second resume evaluation and two additional one-hour phone consultations to discuss your target position, key career experiences, review the results of the resume evaluation, and help you begin your job search.
This option also includes your choice of one of the following bonuses:
- Evaluation of your LinkedIn profile and support for leveraging LinkedIn as part of your job search;
- Help customizing your resume for 2 job applications;
- Help preparing for 1 job interview.
The opportunity to meet one-on-one several times helps us uncover your marketable value from your career experiences, guide you through the process, and provide additional support for how to present your career experiences in your resume, ensuring your resume presents your best qualifications to a potential hiring manager.
Your investment: $500

Excellent!
I, among others, have asked Laura for help on my resume. Laura has also written about re-writing your resume in her e-book. She has also made a presentation via the IIBA webinars on this topic.
She has now made a channel available to allow her to actually help us while also letting us pay for the single most important thing a consultant offers after their skills. Their time.
