From Travel Agent to Business Analyst

Leah Balid progressed into a BA career after the following job profile trajectory:

travel agent –>

new hire coach –>

subject matter expert / escalations supervisor –>

queues management administrator –>

data analyst –>

travel analyst –>

and then BUSINESS ANALYST!

After being a travel analyst, Leah decided to shift her career to IT. She applied for a QA Engineer post but it was recommended that she pursue a BA role instead. Although an IT graduate, she felt her previous work experience was quite unrelated and that she did not have the necessary hard-core BA experience.

To merge her previous experience in the travel industry with her goals to get into IT, she decided to become a BA and provide technological solutions to the travel industry.

The resources she leveraged along her transition included the Starting a BA Career LinkedIn group, Bridging the Gap articles, IIBA, and How to Start a BA Careerwhere she found her passion for business analysis encouraged.
