Looking for a book to read to help you become a better business analyst? Here are some of my favorites. I’ll be adding to this list over time and would love to hear your thoughts on what’s included and hear your recommendations as well!
I loved this book: The Servant Leader: How to Build a Creative Team, Develop Great Morale, and Improve Bottom-Line Performance by James A. Autry. In fact my Master’s degree was in Management with a concentration on Servant Leadership.
The book has several tips, and background information, on the design of everyday things (as the title suggest), that one can apply to the design of computer systems. As, for example, provide feedback to the user. If one clicks a button on a web page, let the user know if the buttons was successfully pressed and the action is being performed.
I am currently reading The 8th Habit from Effectiveness to Greatness by Stephen R. Covey. http://www.amazon.com/8th-Habit-Personal-Workbook-Effectiveness/dp/0743293193/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264531682&sr=1-2-spell
One thing struck me was what the author advocates: try to teach while you are learning. By doing that, you learn much more. Hence my comment before I finish reading the book. The current chapter that I am reading is about discovering your voice and inspiring others around you to do the same. Laura, I think you are an example of someone who found her voice, which has been nothing less than inspiring.

One book that I finished reading recently, and was suggested by Adriana Beal in her website (http://2wtx.com/business-analysis/index.html), is this one: The Design of Everyday Things (http://www.amazon.com/Design-Everyday-Things-Donald-Norman/dp/0385267746)
